A Guide to Schools in Alamo, CA

Contra Costa County is known widely as a retreat from the non-stop hustle and bustle of San Francisco. Featuring dynamic urban centers, such as the culturally vibrant Walnut Creek, and more rustic residential communities, including the luxurious hideaways of Danville and Diablo, there's plenty to excite both long-time residents and newly arrived transplants.

Outstanding schools are one of the most notable aspects of this highly livable region. Excelling academically on all fronts — from the arts and English to math, science, and a host of other disciplines that fall in between — the quality of an East Bay education ranks among the highest in the state.

Nowhere is this more true than in Alamo.

Situated 30 miles east of San Francisco, with Silicon Valley 45 miles to the southwest, this unincorporated community of approximately 15,000 residents is a bucolic, under-the-radar gem in the heart of the East Bay. Tucked between the Diablo Range and Las Trampas Ridge, Alamo affords homeowners a rustic, rural setting without sacrificing a luxurious, high-end lifestyle or world-class educational opportunities.

Including public and private institutions, many richly rewarding programs serve all grade levels, from the youngest pre-kindergarten students to those in their final year of high school.

Below is a guide to schools in Alamo, California, to ensure you find the right place to feed your child's curiosity and grow their knowledge with a broad, world-class education.

Public schools in Alamo

A healthy, thriving public school network is at the heart of every standout, highly sought-after community. Beyond places to learn, great schools are centers for enrichment and growth that enlighten students and families and enhance the neighborhood. In Alamo, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District serves as the primary educator of the community's youth.

Considered a top 10 school district in the San Francisco Bay Area and a top 25 district in California, San Ramon Valley's 22 elementary schools, nine middle schools, and five high schools all achieve "A" ratings, according to Niche.com. A number of the district's schools have been recognized individually, on multiple occasions, for their commitment to learning, quality of teachers and classroom instruction, and overall dedication to their students and the communities in which they reside. The San Ramon Valley district has a total enrollment of more than 30,000 students.
